GARVIS – Robert J.,78, of Vintondale, passed away Oct. 30,2011 at Windber Hospice. Born Nov. 26, 1932 in Vintondale, son of the late Joseph R. and Anna T. (Totin) Garvis. Preceded in death by special grandparents, Andrew & Anna Totin; uncle, Jim Totin and aunt, Mary Totin. Survived by sisters, Elizabeth (William) Sulosky, Windber; Dorothy (Raul) Gonzalez, Indiana; brothers, Edward (Barbara) Garvis, Bedford; and George (Jean) Garvis, North Carolina. Also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Nick and Sharon Micali; and Jackie and Joe Brown. Life member of SS. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Vintondale. Member of Vintondale Volunteer Fire Company. Retired from PennDot with 30 years of service. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 10am on Thursday, the Rev. Gregori Tsjouman, officiating. Interment to follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Vintondale. In lieu of flowers donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, PA 15963 or to The Vintondale Volunteer Fire Company.
