STANTON – Herbert R., Jr.”Herbie”, 53, of Nanty Glo, passed away Feb. 5, 2013. Born Jan. 10, 1960 in Colver, son of Herbert and Irene (Kankula) Stanton. Preceded in death by mother, Irene; sister, Barbara; and grandparents, Helen & Alex Kankula and Bessie & Edward Stanton. Survived by father, Herbert R. Stanton, Sr., Nanty Glo; sister, Suzanne (Charles) Keilman, Nanty Glo; brothers, Edward (Barbara), Johnstown; Joseph (girlfriend Paula and her son Jerry), Nanty Glo; and John P. Stanton, at home. Also survived by nephews, Charles, Aaron, Lucas and Lee; niece, Cindy; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Herb was a 1977 graduate of Blacklick Valley High School, where after graduation he entered into the Marine Corps., serving as a Lance Corporal in several bases throughout the United States. Member of Nanty Glo VFW Post 3489. Herb enjoyed hunting, fishing, hockey (Penguins), football (Steelers) and NASCAR. Formerly employed by Frank Castelli Transportation as a bus driver and Penn Metal Fabrications as a machine operator. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, the Rev. Asa Sherman, officiating. Interment, Pike Brethren Cemetery, Mundys Corner. Military rite by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks and Vintondale area veterans organizations.
