Obituary of Yvonne M. Fye

FYE – Yvonne M. (Guiher), 82, of Nanty Glo, went to be with the Lord April 28, 2018. Born Nov. 29, 1935 in Twin Rocks, daughter of the late David and Margaret (Jones) Guiher. Preceded in death by beloved daughter, Deanna Hobba and sister, Mary Jayne. Survived by loving husband of 63 years, Richard “Dick” Fye; children, Richard, Sherry (Jay) Mardis; Maggie (Bob) Johnson; and Becky Keen. Also survived by son in law, Bob Hobba; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren with one on the way. Sister of Rosemma Deem; Edrice Stalker; Davette Rummell; and Judy Kowalski. Yvonne worked for several years alongside her daughter, Deanna, at Schrader’s Flowers and Greenhouses. Her love for her children was evident by the years she spent running the kitchen for Silver Shoe Rodeo. She used her talents as a seamstress to design and create many outfits for her family and friends, including her daughter’s wedding dress. Yvonne enjoyed camping and hiking with her husband. She especially enjoyed feeding “God’s Critters.” It was not unusual to see her sitting in the middle of the driveway with her grandchildren singing “Puff the Magic Dragon” and digging for bugs and snakes. She delighted everyone who knew her with her colorful fashion sense. Her presence will be remembered with each rainbow we see. Friends will be received from 4- 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Pastor Bud Vogel, officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Yvonne’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
