BLOOM – Richard N., 96, of Colver Road. passed away January 29, 2020 at St. Benedict Manor. Born December 6, 1923 in Cambria Twp., son of the late John Powell and Mildred (Gallaher) Bloom. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Alice (Shea) Bloom; brothers, John and Fred Bloom; and son-in-law, Jim Howard. Survived by his children, Richard (Janice) Bloom, Denise Howard, and Debbie Coffman. Grandchildren, Erin (Alex) Masser, Jacob (Mallory) Coffman, Sam (Holly) Coffman, Lisa (Pete) Urbassik, and Brian (Lindsey) Bloom. Great Grandchildren, Chloe Bloom, Sawyer Masser, Killian Coffman and Adeline Coffman. Richard is also survived by his sister, Rosemary Baumgardner and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was a longtime and very active member of the Ebensburg United Church of Christ (Congregational), WWII Army veteran and member of the American Legion and VFW for over 70 years. A lifelong farmer he ran a farming machinery and brokerage business for many years with the help of his wife. Richard was an accomplished horseman and hunter; and was a 4-H Horse Club Leader and also served on 4-H state committee. Friends will be received from 5-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Ebensburg United Church of Christ, Pastor Ryan Lucas, officiating. Interment, Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
