I am deeply saddened to learn of Bernice’s passing. I found this notification purely by chance but I believe that God directed me here. I first met Bernice in the Summer of 1978 while on a ministry team named Operation Barnabas. We were ministering at the Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church. The Silbaugh family were hosting our team members and I was blessed to have stayed with the family. Bernice was like a mom to me as Pennsylvania was the farthest location I had ever traveled to as a young 16 year old from Hawaii. Bernice and I kept in touch through letters and an occasional phone call. Though we lost contact as the years passed, my memories of my time with the Silbaugh family will always remain in my heart. I practically lived there when I was younger. She was "Mom". She always greeted me with "There's my Girl" even when I was 50 I was still "her Girl". She had a smile that made you just feel special. Love ya Mom. You will be missed.

She was my other "Mom" and would be offended if I called her anything but. She treated me like one of her own from the day I met her, and her friendship, generosity, kindness, love and pecan pies will be so missed. I'd give anything to have her read this and hear that giggle one more time. There will be a void in my life with her passing, which will be filled again the day I see her in Glory. Praying for and loving her family...MY family...as they shoulder this loss. All my love to all who loved her.
