SZYMUSIAK – Stephen M., Sr. “Pugga”, 71, of Nanty Glo, passed away June 6, 2022. Born May 3, 1951 in Johnstown, son of the late Steve J. and Hedwig (Bernot) Szymusiak. Preceded in death by an infant daughter; sister, Denise; and grandbaby, Payton. Survived by wife, Barb to whom he was married for 50 years; and sons, Stephen, Jr. (Jamie); Matthew (Jessica); and Jeffrey (Ashley) Grandchildren, Brandon, Kristin, Nathan, Connor, Kolten, Karson, and Kenley. Also survived by brother, Bernard (Patricia) Szymusiak; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Nanty Glo, where he served on the Pastoral Council. Member of Nanty Glo Polish Club and the Nanty Glo American Legion. Former Mayor of Nanty Glo. He also served on Nanty Glo Borough Council. Stephen enjoyed cutting grass, going to camp and attending his grandchildren’s many activities. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Leonard Voytek, celebrant. Committal to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.askew-houser.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Marys Church or to the American Heart Association in Stephen's memory.
