Obituary of Allen Richard Teeter
TEETER - Allen Richard, 84, formerly of Mundys’ Corner and Nanty Glo, passed away peacefully at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. Born July 2, 1938 in Johnstown, son of the late E. Clair Teeter, Sr., and Martha (Davis) Teeter. Preceded in death by siblings: Everett Teeter, Jr., Naomi Fitz, LaVerne Younker, Robert Teeter and David Teeter. Allen is survived by his sister Carol Holabeck, of Warsaw, Indiana, sisters-in-law: Margaret Teeter, Ebensburg and Violet Teeter, Mundys’ Corner; special friends Jim and Harriet “Susie” McKeel, of Belsano and numerous nieces and nephews. Allen had been disabled since childhood, but was a talented musician, most remembered for his harmonica playing. He played for many gospel groups, enjoyed performing at church and was a staple at family reunions. He placed second in the Tribune Democrat’s “Simply the Best Talent Contest” in 2007. Allen had a vast knowledge of popular gospel hymns, country and popular music. During the “Stump Allen” portion of any concert, a prize would be awarded to anyone who could stump Allen on a song. Allen was a long time member of the Pike Grace Brethren Church in Mundy’s Corner. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m., until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Pike Grace Brethren Church, Terry Glessner, officiating. Interment at Pike Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Allen’s memory may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Association (www.ucp.org).
