Obituary of Edward Simmons

SIMMONS - Edward, 79, of Jackson Twp., passed away August 13, 2023 at home. Born May 23, 1944 in Johnstown, son of the late EJ and Agatha (Gore) Simmons. Preceded in death by sister, Doris Williams; niece, Kim Williams; nephew, Bobby Williams; brother in law, Larry Nanna; and sister in law, Tamara Simmons. Survived by wife of 58 years, Jackie Simmons; and children, Ed (Cindy) Simmons; and Joyce (Brian) Gongaware. 5 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Also survived by siblings, Elaine (Thomas) Boring; Janet Nanna; and Doug Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Pike Grace Brethren Church, Mundys Corner. Retired Airline Captain with TWA/American Airlines for nearly 40 years.  Member of Jackson Twp. Hunting Club.  Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He was an avid fan of youth sports, and enjoyed watching his children, grandkids, nieces and nephews play. A gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service on Saturday at Pike Grace Brethren Church, Terry Glessner, officiating. Interment, Pike Brethren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory may be made to Pike Grace Brethren Church or AseraCare Hospice.
